Live Well Practice, PLLC

Karen Wang LMHC

Counseling is not mysterious. It is about trying to understand and be understood. To get the real strength and make positive changes in a way that best fits in a person’s life. As a counselor, my goal is to accompany you to identify the most suitable therapy for you with the consideration of your cultural background, communication habits, therapy goals and to make those changes. Meeting where you are and helping you to set up practical and tangible goals that make the most sense to you. I believe one’s true self is embedded in authenticity and compassion, and one’s life flourishes through embracing who we are.

I am a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). Fluent in Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).  I have spent the past 5+ years training and working with clients at institutions such as Hunter College, Hamilton-Madison House, Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services (CASES). I am knowledgeable in the multiple-cultural population, mainly targeted on adults. Specialize in Depression, Anxiety, Mood disorders, Substance use, Relationship issues, and Daily/Work-related stress. I use an integrated dynamic approach to therapy, informed by mindfulness, relaxation techniques, motivational interviewing, and cognitive therapies. I work with compassion, understanding, and friendly demeanor when working with challenging clients in any situation.
