What Led Me To A Career As A Psychotherapist In NYC?

Like many people, I was bullied growing up, and that painful experience had a profound and lasting impact on me. It made me feel isolated, rejected, and even unsure of myself at times. Going through that difficult period gave me a deep understanding of how important it is to have someone who can listen to you, validate your feelings, and help you rebuild your confidence.

I became a therapist because I wanted to offer support to others who were struggling to put their lives back together after being wounded like me. I believe that everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and valued—and I want to be that person who people go to overcome things like bullying, anxiety, and any other challenges holding them back.

What Kind Of Strategies Do I Draw From In Therapy?

One of the many modalities that I utilize throughout my sessions is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an effective approach to treating a range of complex issues. CBT focuses on the power of thought patterns and explores how challenging negative beliefs and self-concepts can lead to meaningful improvements in emotional and behavioral well-being.

CBT can be effective in supporting those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, low mood, poor self-esteem, and low self-worth. It’s also a powerful tool for assisting people who feel stuck in negative thought patterns and want to improve their overall mindset. And it’s great for helping clients overcome phobias and fears while equipping them with effective problem-solving strategies and coping skills.

I also utilize aspects of:

  • Motivational Interviewing and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

  • Attachment Theory, Behavior Modification, Positive Psychology

  • Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

  • Trauma-Focused and Strengths-Based Therapy models

  • Brief Dynamic Exposure Response Prevention

What Makes Me and My Approach To Therapy Unique?

Personally and professionally, I place a high value on building a genuine, trusting relationship with my clients. The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. I promise, if we work together, you’ll never feel like just another client in my office.

Rather, my goal is to create a space where you can feel free and safe enough to explore the past, challenge yourself, and grow as a person. I want to give you the opportunity to be your true self—to finally feel seen, heard, and understood.

Whatever comes up, therapy sessions will always be focused on you: your goals, your progress, and your well-being. I’ll never try to fit you into a mold or push you in a direction that doesn’t align with who you are. I’m just here to help you find your own path, discover your strengths, and move forward in ways that feel meaningful and empowering to you.

A Little More About My Background

In addition to my work as a virtual therapist through Live Well Practice NY, I am also employed as a clinical consultant. I have the privilege of supporting people through some of the most intense, stressful situations of their lives. This work regularly involves assessing mental health needs, understanding the complexities of various mental health diagnoses, and, most importantly, linking individuals and families to the services that offer them the best support possible.

On a personal note, I love living in this vibrant city with its endless opportunities to try new things. I enjoy exploring local restaurants, attending events, and discovering new activities around town. This curiosity and openness to new experiences help me stay engaged, inspired, and present, both in my personal life and my work as a therapist. I believe that embracing change and taking on new challenges is a key part of personal growth, and I encourage my clients to do the same in their journeys.

“I'm not afraid to take a stand/ Everybody come take my hand/ We'll walk this road together/ Through the storm whatever weather/ Cold or warm...”

These lyrics resonate with me because they reflect the core value of why I became a therapist: to stand beside others through their struggles, offering support, guidance, and a safe space to heal. Like Eminem’s message of resilience and facing challenges head-on, I aim to help my clients confront their difficulties with courage and confidence.
